What is KeepnUp?

KeepnUp is a free cell phone and email based service to help you stay informed about promotions and events going on at bars and restaurants in your area. Each KeepnUp user can specify which bars and restaurants are of interest to them and have new promotion and event listings sent to their cell phone via text message. For example, let's say you like a particular bar, but find it hard to keep up on their drink specials or what band will be performing there from week to week. If you choose that bar as a location of interest, new money saving offers and event listings will be text messaged to your cell phone automatically...keeping you up on what's going on at your favorite places.

Is KeepnUp free?

KeepnUp is a completely free service to users of the site. If you choose to receive text message alerts, standard text messaging rates charged by your cell phone provider will apply. You will never receive a bill from KeepnUp.

How do I get involved?

While KeepnUp is cell phone based, anyone can visit the KeepnUp website to find out what's going on in their area. However, to receive timely text message updates about what's happening at establishments of interest, one must signup with their cell phone number. It's very easy, just hit the "Signup" link at the top of any page and fill out the brief signup form. Then, you can search for any city you want and find the establishments in which you are interested. Once you've located the establishment, click on the "pin" on the map. This will bring up the detail area (to the left of the main map) about that establishment. By clicking on the "include in my network" link, you will now receive text messages about that establishment. It's that easy!

Did you say ANY city?

OK, so, we fibbed a bit there. At the moment KeepnUp is in beta mode, and so, not ALL establishments of ALL cities are available. The first release has only bars and restaurants in 6 states: California, Connecticut, Massachussetts, Mississippi, Nevada, and New York. And, only a handful of bars (in Hartford, CT) have signed up to enter their specials and event data. But, we will soon be expanding the service to include event information about all the establishments in our database. So...stay tuned!

What about my privacy? Will I get spammed?

Security and privacy are held with the utmost importance with KeepnUp. The KeepnUp database is secured and the cell phone numbers have been encrypted for your protection. We will never give out or sell your cell phone data. As for receiving too many messages, it's entirely up to you how many establishments you add to your network, and, you can remove any number of them at any time. To remove a bar or restaurant from you network, simply click on the 'Click Here' to opt out link and remove as many as you like.
